SELAMAT DATANG to FROSTBITERS ICE HOCKEY CLUB, MALAYSIA!

Yes, ice hockey is played in the tropics! On the map, Malaysia is located in South East Asia, a wee bit above the Equator and is a nation of 32+ million. The sport has grown in this little corner of “The Big Blue”, especially in the past decade-and-a-half. Rinks – old and new, big and small – are located primarily in malls, mainly in the central part of Peninsula Malaysia, with more planned in other parts of the Country!

Officially established and registered with The Sports Commission of Malaysia (under The Ministry of Youth & Sports) in September 2016, Frostbiters started off as a Junior Club but many of our skaters have grown up and gone on to play senior level hockey, both domestically and abroad. Frostbiters was founded and (is still) run by a bunch of volunteer Parents, whose children had already been playing, the years prior.

We are all about friendship, family, bonding and of course, teamwork. From the onset, our Members have been both multiracial and multinational, and we’re proud to say, the same still holds true!

For us, “home” is in one of the major malls, called SUNWAY PYRAMID, about 30 minutes west of downtown Kuala Lumpur (KL). Even though not a full-sized hockey rink (39m x 22½m) it has been our base for several years, more so after the Covid19 lockdown had shuttered one of the first IIHF-certified hockey rinks in the Region, located northwest of KL. However, word has it, that works are underway to reopen the big rink later in 2025, no firm timeline yet.
